If you can’t write something:

I was chopping onions for dinner.

I stopped. “Wait…” I said.

Maybe adrenaline makes me talk to myself? (Or maybe, probably, I’m just strange.)

“Yes…” I said.

Kelsey looked up. She didn’t say anything.

I took out my phone:

Google Docs > idea folder > blinking cursor.

I leaned against the counter and watched it blink, the cursor, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink, blink.

OK.

I started typing on the screen with my index finger. No good. I deleted it. Again. Eh, no, delete. Again. No. Again, no, shit. Again. No.

ok.

I put the phone down and went back to chopping. My eyes watered.

All that to say, an idea in your head is next to nothing until you can express it in writing. If you can’t write something, you probably don’t have anything (yet). So take a step back. Don't force it. It'll come.

Ok?
